Shaftesbury Feastival

Shaftesbury Feastival

Rain didn't manage to dampen the spirits of Shaftesbury and its visitors on 5 May for its relaunched Food Feastival. The High Street and Park Walk were full of wonderful smells and delicious flavours as food from near and far was enjoyed by all. We were very lucky to have both Ukrainian and Syrian friends sharing their expertise and exquisite food.

Olya Patiuta demonstrated how to create scrumptious chocolates full of rich delicious centres containing fruit and nuts at The Grosvenor. She also ran a stall showcasing lots of favourite Ukrainian foods including borscht, fermented vegetables, savoury and sweet breads, cakes and honey. More about Olya and her exciting new business Zhiva Authentica can be found here: https://www.instagram.com/zhiva.authentica. The Food Feastival coincided with the Orthodox Christian Easter so a very happy Easter to all our guests from Ukraine.

Samar and Ammar and their children at Hammouds Kitchen could hardly keep up with the demand for shwarma, spicy potatoes, tasty tabbouleh, lentil pasties and falafels. Many happy customers left their stall munching on their delicious Syrian food and resolved to order more from their takeaway. Samar and Ammar will deliver to your door and can be found here: https://hammoudskitchen.co.uk

Imad and Bayan also did excellent business with their Kabab Ji and gave us more scrumptious Syrian food. Their kebabs and shawarmas were so flavourful, who couldn't be tempted! They are based in Gillingham and more information can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/Mohamadimadaljam/ Pop into their pop up restaurant at St Mary's School room on a Friday and Saturday evening and you won't be disappointed!

Thank you to our Ukrainian and Syrian friends for sharing all this deliciousness. I'm sure many of us will be chasing them for more!
